This study aims to examine the ideology of humanism and the critique of colonialism in Bumi Manusia (This Earth of Mankind) by Pramoedya Ananta Toer as a representation of humanitarian consciousness and resistance to colonial oppression. The urgency of this study lies in the importance of utilizing literary works as a medium for character education and the development of historical awareness in the teaching of Indonesian language and literature. Theoretically, this research is grounded in the concept of humanism, which emphasizes human dignity, freedom, and justice, as well as the critique of colonialism, which questions power relations, domination, and the marginalization of colonized peoples. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using the content analysis method. The primary data source is the novel Bumi Manusia by Pramoedya Ananta Toer, while the research data consist of narrative excerpts, dialogues, and descriptions that represent the ideology of humanism and the critique of colonialism. Data were collected through literature review and text documentation techniques, and subsequently analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing by relating textual findings to the theoretical framework employed.
