Withdrawal, Retraction, Correction and Expression of Concern

Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors are strongly discouraged from withdrawing submitted manuscripts once the manuscript has entered the publication process, including peer review, copyediting, layout, or other stages of editorial and production processing. During these stages, Khazanah Pendidikan Islam has already committed editorial resources, reviewer time, administrative effort, and publication-related resources to the manuscript.

If, under exceptional circumstances, the author(s) still request withdrawal after the publication process has commenced, the author(s) may be required to reimburse the resources and editorial work already committed to the manuscript in the amount of IDR 2,000,000.

The withdrawal request must be submitted officially by email to the Khazanah Pendidikan Islam editorial office using the same email address used in the manuscript correspondence. The editorial office will review the request and determine the appropriate action in accordance with the stage of the publication process.

Retraction Policy

The editors of Khazanah Pendidikan Islam may consider retracting a published article when there is clear evidence of serious problems affecting the reliability, integrity, legality, or ethical validity of the publication, including:

  1. There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable as a result of a major error, such as miscalculation or experimental error, or as a result of fabrication or falsification of data or other research materials.
  2. The article constitutes plagiarism or contains substantial unattributed reproduction of another work.
  3. The findings have previously been published elsewhere without appropriate attribution, disclosure to the editor, permission to republish where required, or sufficient justification, resulting in redundant or duplicate publication.
  4. The article contains material, data, images, or other research resources that were used without appropriate authorization.
  5. Copyright has been infringed or the publication involves another serious legal issue, including matters relating to privacy or defamation.
  6. The research reported in the article was conducted or reported in an unethical manner.
  7. The article was published as a result of a compromised, manipulated, or otherwise seriously flawed peer-review process.
  8. The author(s) failed to disclose a major competing interest or conflict of interest that, in the editor's judgment, could have materially affected the interpretation of the work or recommendations made by editors or peer reviewers.

Retraction Notices

When an article is retracted, Khazanah Pendidikan Islam will ensure that the retraction notice is transparent and accessible to readers. Retraction notices will:

  1. Be linked to the retracted article wherever possible, including relevant online versions.
  2. Clearly identify the retracted article by providing sufficient bibliographic information, including the article title and authors.
  3. Be clearly identified as a Retraction and distinguished from corrections, expressions of concern, comments, or other editorial notices.
  4. Be published promptly once the decision to retract has been formally established.
  5. Be freely accessible to readers and not placed behind access restrictions.
  6. Clearly state who is issuing the retraction.
  7. Clearly state the reason or reasons for the retraction.
  8. Use objective, factual, and professional language and avoid inflammatory or unnecessarily accusatory statements.

When Retraction Is Normally Not Appropriate

Retraction is not normally appropriate in the following circumstances:

  1. Authorship is disputed, but there is no substantive reason to question the validity or reliability of the findings.
  2. The main findings remain reliable and the identified errors or concerns can be adequately addressed through a correction or other editorial action.
  3. The editor has insufficient evidence to support retraction or is awaiting additional information, such as the outcome of an institutional investigation.
  4. A conflict of interest is disclosed after publication, but the editor determines that the conflict is unlikely to have materially influenced the interpretation, recommendations, or conclusions of the article.

Expression of Concern

The editors of Khazanah Pendidikan Islam may issue an Expression of Concern when there are substantial concerns about the integrity or reliability of a publication, but the available evidence is not yet sufficient to justify retraction. This may include circumstances where:

  1. The journal receives inconclusive evidence of research or publication misconduct involving the author(s).
  2. There is evidence suggesting that the findings may be unreliable, but the author's institution or relevant authority is unwilling or unable to investigate the matter.
  3. The editors have reason to believe that an investigation into alleged misconduct has not been, or is unlikely to be, conducted fairly, impartially, or conclusively.
  4. An investigation is ongoing, but its final outcome is not expected within a reasonable period of time.

Corrections

The editors of Khazanah Pendidikan Islam may publish a correction when an article remains substantially reliable but contains an error or omission that should be formally corrected. A correction may be considered when:

  1. A limited portion of an otherwise reliable publication is found to be misleading, particularly as a result of an honest error.
  2. The author or contributor information is incorrect, including cases where an eligible author has been omitted or a person who does not meet the applicable authorship criteria has been included.
  3. Other factual, bibliographic, methodological, or editorial errors are identified that can be corrected without invalidating the main findings of the publication.

Editorial and Ethical Framework

Decisions concerning withdrawal, correction, retraction, and expressions of concern are handled by the editorial team based on the nature and seriousness of the issue, available evidence, the stage of publication, and the potential effect on the integrity of the scholarly record.

The procedures of Khazanah Pendidikan Islam are informed by the principles and good publication practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Important Note
The purpose of these procedures is to protect the integrity of the scholarly record, ensure transparency in editorial decisions, and provide readers and authors with clear information when published content requires correction, clarification, or retraction.
